PostSubject: Wrestlemania's Top Five   Mon Jan 31, 2011 6:51 am

So, just copy and paste the list, and answer them for yourself. Of course, unless noted, all are positive. Also, feel free to add any categories. I'll do mine later.

These are all in rough order, and could change if brought up again down the line.

Top 5 Main Events:
1. Chris Benoit vs. Triple H vs. Sahwn Michaels (XX)
2. Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle (XIX)
3. Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker (XXVI)
4. Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart (XII)
5. Edge vs. Undertaker (XXIV)

Just to note, I hate Stone Cold vs. The Rock at X-Seven, so I have seen it. Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania VI just missed the list. I've also never seen Shawn vs. Cena.

Top 5 stipulation matches:
1. Money In The Bank (23)
2. Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart (XII)
3. E&C vs. The Hardys vs. The Dudleys (X-Seven)
4. E&C vs. The Hardys vs. The Dudleys (2000)
5. Money In The Bank (XXIV)

I get the spots confused between the two matches, but I've liked them both. I remember X-Seven's more (I think), so I put it ahead of their 2000 bout.

Top 5 Wrestlemanias:
1. XX
2. XXIV
3. 23
4. 21
5. 26

Yeah, most of the ones I've seen a lot of (enough to put them over more) are twenty and over. I've seen two matches from XIX, three from X-Seven (one of which I hated), and then sporadicly from X-Seven and below. I've seen most of III, but too many matches were too short and forgettable. Have probably three more matches to watch, probably when it starts getting great, but for now, Ricky vs. Savage isn't enough to make it on to the top five.

Also, 23 would be higher but I've missed like four matches so I didn't want to put it too high.

Top 5 opening matches:
1. Money In The Bank (23)
2. Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio (21)
3. JBL vs. Finlay (XXIV)
4. John Cena vs. Big Show (XX)
5. Kane & Show vs. Masters & Carlito (22)

Don't typically go out of my way for openers, so I could only use the few I've seen.

Top 5 most disappointing matches:
1. Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg (XX)
2. The Rock vs. Stone Cold (X-Seven)
3. Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker (XXV)
4. Money In The Bank (XXV)
5. Bret Hart vs. McMahon/Money In The Bank (XXVI)

Okay, I don't hate some of these matches (e.g. Shawn v. Taker) but they were disappointing because I expected much more of them. Using my example, I expected a five star bout, not a thre star (mediocre) bout, and I have a feeling the match just felt better due to all the crap that WM XXV was putting on.

I didn't expect much from either Hart vs. McMahon or the Money In The Bank, but both were much more horrible than I ever anticapted. Since I had higher expectations for MITB, and because Hart vs. McMahon was one of the most boring things I've ever witnessed in my life (at least in WWE), I'd rank them around the same.

Top 5 HBK matches:
1. vs. Angle (21)
2. vs. Benoit vs. Triple H (XX)
3. vs. Hart (XII)
4. vs. Jericho (XIX)
5. vs. Undertaker (XXVI)

Top 5 Undertaker matches:
1. vs. Michaels (XXVI)
2. vs. Batista (23)
3. vs. Kane (XIV)
4. vs. Edge (XXIV)
5. vs. Orton (21)

Top 5 performances by a single wrestler at a single mania:
1. Ricky Steamboat (XXV)
2. Eddie Guerrero (20)
3. Shawn Michaels (21)
4. Kurt Angle (21)
5. Randy Savage/Ricky Steamboat (III)

Not sure who's more deserving of the credit, so I'm putting them both for three.

Is it just me or is Cena vs Big Show one of the best show openers of all time? It's not even that good a match but...it just sets an awesome tone/pace for the rest of the show. It can't just be me...

I haven't seen much full PPVs besides Wrestlemania's, and when I do I don't typically watch them in order, so I really can't say. I will say that the match did great in setting up the show, and I can't imagine any other match working as well to start off Wrestlemania XX. The match isn't that good though, which is why I ranked it fourth.
