Sting vs. Hollywood Hogan (c)

The bell goes off and the jam packed crowd is on their feet. Hollywood Hogan and Sting stand on opposing corners, Sting staying perfectly still and quiet while Hogan struts around the ring feeling arrogant and taunting the crowd. After a couple of taunts from Hogan the two men approach each other in the center of the ring, staring each other down until Hogan slaps Sting across the face, still only messing around in the square circle to everybody’s distaste. But Sting would retaliate with a hard right hand into Hogan’s face which caused Hollywood to be knocked off his feet and onto the canvas! The crowd responded with a huge pop while Hollywood Hogan quickly got up to his feet and retreated into his corner, still with the wind knocked out of him as he looks shocked at what just happened.

Tony Schiavone
“And wow! No less than a minute after the bell rings Sting knocks the Champion off his feet with a right hand!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Hogan better start taking this match seriously if he wants to retain the WCW World Heavyweight title.”

The fans begin chanting, “STING!” as Hogan rethinks his strategy going into this match, meanwhile Sting remains in the center of the ring, a faceless expression still gracing his facial features as he patiently awaits Hogan to rejoin him in the center of the ring. Sting has waited for over one whole year to be in the ring with this man and he wasn’t about to rush into anything during this match with so much on the line. Hollywood looks out to the crowd knowing who side they were on in this one before he pointed over to Sting. With one more taunt to the crowd Hogan puts on his serious face and rejoins Sting in the middle of the square circle, the two men now locking horns! Sting spins around to the back of Hogan but Hollywood quickly acts with an elbow to Sting before spinning around him, now with Sting right where he wants him Hogan turns him around and performs a bodyslam! The fans boo accordingly as Hogan follows up with an elbow drop!

Tony Schiavone
“And now Hogan has Sting against the canvas.”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Schiavone, have you ever heard such a one-sided reaction from the fans before? When Sting gets in a shot they cheer and when Hogan gets in a shot they boo.”
Tony Schiavone
“The fans making it very clear who they want to win this one--- And Hogan now with a series of stomps against the challenger!”

Hollywood delivers another stomp to “The Man They Call Sting” asking the fans, “Is this your hero?” before delivering another stomp to Sting’s face! WCW fans continue to chant Sting name, getting louder and louder with each chant as Sting starts to rise up to his feet. Hogan begins a series of punches on the rising Icon but it doesn’t halts the challenger’s ascent, now back on his feet Hogan delivers another punch to his chest and Sting doesn’t even reacts to it! Hogan throws another punch and Sting merely taunts as there is another huge pop from the WCW crowd! Hollywood knew all too well what was going on, the cheers from the fans giving Sting that inhuman power boost to ignore the pain from his opponents. Something that Hogan received back in early 96 when he was still brandishing the red and yellow.

Hogan ducked under a standing clothesline by Sting and then attempted to take his head off with a Big Boot, but Sting caught the leg and then pushed Hogan onto the ring canvas, with the leg still in his clenches Sting attempts to lock in the Scorpion Death Lock as the fans go wild!

Tony Schiavone
“SCORPION DEATH LOCK---!”

But Hollywood quickly gets to the nearby ropes and grabs onto them, forcing Sting to break the hold before he could even fully lock it in.

Tony Schiavone
“And no Hogan gets to the ropes!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Hogan may be a lot of things but an “idiot” is not one of them. He knows if Sting locks in that Scorpion Death Lock it’s all over for him.”

Sting bends over to pick up the World Heavyweight Champion but Hogan comes back with a low blow on Sting! The referee didn’t see it but the fans sure did and they made sure he knew about it as the “You suck!” chants began, and so did the throwing of garbage into the square circle! Hollywood, now on his feet with a smug look on his face, begins punching Sting! One, two, three punches before Irish whipping him across the ropes but Sting reverses it and send Hollywood up against the ropes now! Sting awaiting to deliver the back body drop but when Hogan comes back he grabs Sting and hits a DDT! Quickly going for a cover once Sting is on the mat. 1! 2---! and no a kick out by Sting!

Tony Schiavone
“It’s way too soon for a three count!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Hogan is trying to end this one as fast as he can. He doesn’t want Sting to grow any more momentum with the fans here tonight. I just know he was building up to the Leg Drop with those punches!

Hollywood pulls Sting up by the hair, being warned by the official not to do that but he doesn’t listen and then follows up with a rake to the eyes! Again the referee warns him but Hollywood just doesn’t care. If he gets disqualifies then good! That means he retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and send the WCW/Sting fans home crying to their mommies. Hogan with a series of chops now to the chest of their “Hero” leads Sting being trapped to the corner. Now mocking 13 time World Champion “Nature Boy” Ric Flair with the chops until climbing up the turnbuckle and unleashing a fury of right hands onto the challenger’s head! By the final punch however Sting would grab Hogan, move forward out of the turnbuckle and slams him down into the center of the ring! Sting, once again picking up the legs of Hollywood Hogan, attempting to cross them and turn him around for the Scorpion Death Lock but once again Hogan would quickly make his way to the ropes, wrapping his arms around them in a death grip, forcing Sting to once again break the hold before he could even lock it in!

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Hogan’s heart must be racing right now, Schiavone!”
Tony Schiavone
“Once again Sting attempts to perform the Scorpion Death Lock, and once again Hogan gets to the ropes before he could fully lock it in. What a match we have happening before us, ladies and gentlemen.”

“The Man They Call Sting” pulls up Hollywood Hogan from the ropes and then Irish whips him into the turnbuckle on the right hand corner of the ring! Sting backs up and then charges towards Hollywood, looking for a Stinger Splash but Hogan quickly pulls referee Nick Patrick into the way and he gets the full impact of the Stinger Splash before falling to the ring mat!

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“He’s down! He’s out!”
Tony Schiavone
“Sting was looking for Hogan but Hogan pulled the referee in the way--- and now what is Hogan doing!?”

Sting turned to Nick Patrick’s direction once realizing that Hollywood had evaded his move by putting him in the line of fire, mistake. While Sting was checking on Nick Patrick Hogan pulled out a pair of brass knuckles from his tights and as soon as Sting turned around nailed him in the face with those brass knuckles! After Sting is out cold Hollywood shows them to the fans before tossing them out of the ring.

Tony Schiavone
“That’s good for nothing cheat! Hogan just took out Sting with those brass knuckles and we don’t have an authority in the ring!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Does it matter, Schiavone? If we did Hogan would have been disqualified and walk out of here with the WCW World title!”

Hogan begins to unbuckle his belt that says “Hollywood” and then points at it before kicking Sting around onto his face and slapping the belt against his back!

Tony Schiavone
“And now Hollywood, practically flogging Sting in the ring with that belt!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“When Hogan sees an opportunity he takes it. Sting is down and out and has no way of defending himself against Hollywood Hogan’s assault!”

Hollywood Hogan again asks the fans, “Is this your hero?” before hitting his back once again with the Hollywood belt! Hogan hits Sting again and again, the fans chanting Sting’s name in the hopes that it will give Sting the strength he needed to rise up to his feet, but it wasn’t happening. Hogan laughs, once again that smug look on his face as he walked over to the ring apron facing the stage and motioning for somebody. Out from behind the curtain was none other than Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, the original members of the nWo coming to assist Hollywood.

Tony Schiavone
“And things are about to get worse, folks. Here comes Hall and Nash!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“The nWo just doesn’t want to beat Sting for the belt, they want to eliminate him from WCW altogether. He’s been a thorn at their side all year and they’re sick of him!”

Hall and Nash stalks the ring as Hogan resumes flogging Sting with his belt, and while it appeared that all hope was lost the fans suddenly began to cheer as from behind the railing, in the crowd, was Bret “The Hitman” Hart jumping the railing and running to the end of the WCW ramp, now blocking Hall and Nash’s path to the ring where Hogan and Sting were.

Tony Schiavone
“It’s Bret Hart! Bret Hart is coming to the rescue of Sting!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“What is he doing out here? Not that I’m complaining….”
Tony Schiavone
“Bret Hart is on a mission against “corruption” in Pro Wrestling, and to quote the man himself, “You won’t find a bigger example of corruption than the nWo!”

Bret Hart causes Hall and Nash to back up with Hogan watching from inside the ring, his back now turned on “The Man They Call Sting” as Hall and Nash retreat to the backstage with Bret Hart not far behind. Hollywood looks furious at “The Hitman” but while he’s looking out to the stage Sting gets on his feet and quietly walks up to behind Hogan’s position. Hollywood won’t realize he’s on his feet until it’s too late as Sting grabs the back of Hollywood’s head, and pulls it towards him, Sting with eyes of malice towards the WCW World Champion, performs the Scorpion Death Drop, drilling Hollywood into the canvas! Dragging Hogan to the center of the ring he picks up the legs---

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Third time the charm, Schiavone!”
Tony Schiavone
“But we still don’t have a referee in the ring!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Third time is the charm!”

Sting finally locks in the Scorpion Death Lock, dragging Hogan back into the center of the ring and sitting down on his lower back before he could make a run for the ropes! Hogan immediately starts tapping out to the Scorpion Death Lock, the fans screaming for Sting but there wasn’t a single WCW official to see it!

Tony Schiavone
“Hogan is tapping! The World Champion is tapping out to the Scorpion Death Lock!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Hogan is screaming like a Banshee!”
Tony Schiavone
“Hogan’s tapping out and there isn’t anybody in the ring to call it!”

We soon see a referee running into the ring but by now Hogan has stopped tapping out. Sting breaks the hold and goes over to the official knocking his lights out with a single right hand!

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“What is Sting doing!?”
Tony Schiavone
“I don’t know! We finally get another referee in the ring and Sting knocks him out cold!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Has Sting lost his mind?”

Sting pulls off the referee uniform to unveil a nWo shirt on underneath and everything became clear as Sting rolled the man out of the ring and threw the ref uniform out with him.

Tony Schiavone
“And I can’t believe it! That man was a member of the nWo!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Sting is developing a six sense for these things. He can smell the nWo scum a mile away!”
Tony Schiavone
“The nWo obviously planning to screw Sting out of the title but they weren’t expecting Sting to find out so easily!”

Sting turns around and is greeted by Hollywood Hogan, and a series of right hands! Hogan Irish whips Sting as a legit WCW official enter the ring to call this thing, and as Sting comes back to Hogan he nearly gets his head removed by the Big Boot! The fans knows what’s coming and they don’t like it one bit as Hollywood Hogan hits the ATOMIC LEG DROP! Hollywood goes for the cover! 1! 2! 3---! STING KICKED OUT! STING KICKED OUT! STING KICKED OUT! And Hollywood is as surprised as everybody else!

Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“I can’t believe my eyes!”
Tony Schiavone
“Sting has kicked out of the Hogan Leg Drop, and Hollywood has the ref by his collar thinking this thing is over!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“But it’s not over and now Sting is on his feet!”

Sting turns Hogan around and Irish whips him into the turnbuckle corner! Sting then hits a Stinger Splash on Hollywood but he isn’t done there! Sting Irish whips him into the corner across from that one and hits yet ANOTHER Stinger Splash! Not done by a long shot Sting Irish whips him into the third corner and performs a third Stinger Splash! With one corner left he Irish whips him into that one and performs a fourth and final Stinger Splash which causes Hollywood to fall dead in the center of the ring! The fans are cheering for it, and Sting is signaling for it! Sting picks up the legs of Hollywood Hulk Hogan and crosses them! He turns around and sits on the lower back of the WCW Champion with the Scorpion Death Lock sealed! This time the referee right there to see it all as Hogan shakes his head but not being able to hold it in he taps out! And the fans are on their feet once again as the bell rings!

Tony Schiavone
“Hogan taps out and this time the referee is there to call for the bell!”
Bobby “The Brain” Heenan
“Okay, fourth time the charm.”
Tony Schiavone
“It’s over! We have a new World Heavyweight Champion! At long last the WCW heavyweight title is back where it belongs! And there isn’t a better deserving man to wear it around his waist than the man standing with his arm raised in that ring right now!”

Michael Buffer
“Ladies and gentlemen, your winner, and NEW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPOIN OF THE WORLD! The man they call STING!”

The crowd continues to chant for Sting as WCW wrestlers enter the ring and carry Sting on their shoulders as Sting holds up the WCW World Heavyweight Championship over his head before everything went black.
